2012 Script Submissions – Announcement December 5, 2011

TTC is committed to the long-term development of Tasmanian playwrights and Tasmanian stories and has been proud to present the annual playreading series for the past three years.

The script assessment process has sat outside our funding support and relied on the generosity of three industry professionals who volunteer to read each script and assess it for suitability for the program in its current form.  TTC has committed significant human resources to the management of the script assessment process including collating feedback to give to writers.

Due to Arts Tasmania funding cuts TTC will not be able to accept scripts for assessment in 2012.  Staff numbers and hours will be greatly reduced in order for the company to survive in 2012 and therefore the human resources to manage this program will not be available.

A new playreading series will be launched in 2012 in partnership with The Australian Script Centre and the Tasmanian Writers Centre. It will not be accepting unsolicited scripts in 2012. Full details of plays in the series will be announced in February.

TTC is working on finding a way to support Tasmanian playwrights in the future.
